Valerie has a background in the professional and organizational development of people and culture across various types of organizations including Fortune 500, higher education and high-growth technology start up environments. She is passionate about aligning human capability with organizational strategy and believes that building an engaged, highly efficient team requires leaders who are willing to listen, accept accountability where it matters, and invest in their people.
Throughout her career, she has contributed to many different transformative initiatives rooted in people and innovation. Valerie started her career in various corporate HR and business-focused roles at the global retailer, American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. before transitioning to Carnegie Mellon University in 2016. In 2018, as an Assistant Director of Carnegie Mellon University's Career and Professional Development Center, Valerie launched Carnegie Mellon’s first-ever comprehensive career-readiness program for neuro-diverse students and led other initiatives to engage the university's diverse, world-class student population. Valerie also led the People Operations division of a Pittsburgh-based technology start-up where she developed and implemented the strategic vision of the organization's people, talent and culture programs. Today, she works with leaders to create and deploy innovative strategies that increase employee capability and engagement, helping to position organizations for sustainable long-term growth. |
