Mike Getchell joined Allison Transmission Inc. in August 2018. Mike’s focus is business development of military tracked and wheeled vehicles throughout the Indo-Pacific region. Key duties include sales, aftermarket, and promoting the success of Allison’s many partners in the region.
Prior to joining Allison Transmission, Mike served 30 years with the United States Army, retiring at the rank of Colonel.
Originally, from Massachusetts, Mike received his commission through ROTC from Norwich University, The Military College of Vermont in 1988. Mike possesses graduate degrees from Kansas State University, the U.S. Army’s Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Naval War College
Mike’s U.S. Army career in the operational force began and ended with the 2nd Infantry Division (ID), His initial assignment was with 3rd Brigade, 2nd ID in the Republic of Korea where he served on Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) for three years during the waning stages of the Cold War. Twenty years later, Mike returned to 2nd ID to command a Brigade Combat Team at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington and during combat operations in southern Afghanistan.
Mike has extensive peacetime and combat experience with the famed “Screaming Eagles of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Following the end of the Cold War, Mike joined the “Screaming Eagles” for 4 years, training Soldiers all over the United States. Soon after 9/11, Mike returned to the 101st for eight more years. In this assignment he participated in a combat deployment to Afghanistan and three more in Iraq.
Mike Getchell closed out his 30-year Army career with duties in the Pentagon where he served on the Army Staff and as an Assistant Professor in Strategic Leadership Department of the Eisenhower School for National Security & Resource Strategy in Washington DC.
