Dr. Jean-Marie Jean-Pierre
Dr. Jean-Pierre began his tenure at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland in 1998 as a co-op while studying for his doctoral degree. Upon completion of his degree in 2001, Dr. Jean-Pierre accepted a civil servant position as Quality Assurance Specialist in the Applications Development Branch. In this position, Dr. Jean-Pierre established and facilitated the implementation of a Strategic Management Plan for the Branch. Under the leadership of the Branch Head, he devised strategic initiatives and organizational processes that supported NASA’s mission and vision.
Dr. Jean-Pierre currently serves as NASA Communications (NASCOM) Service Integration Program Director for the Mission Networks Division, Code 770, which is responsible for delivering mission critical data, voice and video to NASA spacecraft and satellite missions. Prior to this new assignment, Dr. Jean-Pierre was the Acting Chief for Goddard’s IT Programs Office (ITPO) where he led the functions of Enterprise Architecture, IT Governance, the Project Management Office (PMO), Service Quality, Strategic Sourcing and IT Policy and Directives. From 2005 to 2014, Dr. Jean-Pierre helped manage a $2.5 billion project that provided personal computing hardware, software, and supporting infrastructure to Goddard personnel.
Dr. Jean-Pierre's academic credentials include a Certificate in Leadership and Management (Johns Hopkins University), a Ph.D. in Public Administration/Public Policy and American Government and an MBA degree in Management, (both from Howard University) and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance (Florida State University).
From 2012 to present, Dr. Jean-Pierre has served as a Board Member for the Executive MBA program, School of Business at Howard University, in Washington, D.C, as well as a lecturer of Strategic Leadership and Project Management.
